Well over a million people in the UK have completed this relaxed and enjoyable course which runs over several sessions, includes a meal and provides an opportunity for questions and discussion.

Following a serious fire on December 20th, 2009, Medstead Village Hall suffered extensive damage and is closed until further notice. Events scheduled there for the next few months are likely to be relocated, postponed or cancelled. Please check with individual organisations listed in the Medstead Village Guide for specific details.

Beat the January Blues with a Winter Walk and hot light lunch with a glass of wine, coffee and cake.

The walk will last around two hours, with a contingency plan should rain stop play.

Come and join the party! Calling all those over 60 living in Medstead: you are invited to the annual lunch, which is financed by various fund raising events in the village throughout the year so the event can be provided free of charge.

It is a chance to meet up after Christmas and chat with friends old and new. Do come along this year and bring along anyone you know who is new to the village.

The first in a series of six lunches where you can come and enjoy home-made soup, bread, cheese and other delights, whilst supporting charities at the same time!

This first Lenten Lunch is in aid of Karamoja, the Alton Deanery Link Committee's work providing practical support to the church and people of North-Eastern Uganda.

The lunch will be preceded, at 11.00am, by an Ash Wednesday Communion Service.

The second in a series of six lunches where you can come and enjoy home-made soup, bread, cheese and other delights, whilst supporting charities at the same time!

This Lenten Lunch is in aid of The Stroke Association, the only UK-wide charity solely concerned with combating stroke in people of all ages.

It funds research into prevention, treatment and better methods of rehabilitation, and helps stroke patients and their families directly through its rehabilitation and support services.

Saturday, 27th Quiz Night
Come and pit your wits against the best brains in the village at our annual quiz night!

Local author Jack Linley is setting the questions and running the quiz, so you can expect a witty and challenging time.

You can enter individually, or in teams of six - the more the merrier - for an evening of fun, enlightenment and a fish & chip supper.

Tickets are the same price as last year, at £9. Please feel free to bring your own drinks.

The fourth in a series of six lunches where you can come and enjoy home-made soup, bread, cheese and other delights, whilst supporting charities at the same time!

This Lenten Lunch is in aid of Winchester Churches Nightshelter, an independent local charity supported by the Churches of Winchester, welcoming homeless people into safe and clean accommodation with a hot evening meal and breakfast. It also provides advice and support as well as assistance in finding appropriate permament accommodation.

A Benefice activity afternoon for primary-school aged children with lots of activities, including gifts to make for Mum for Mothering Sunday on March 14th!

This Lenten Lunch is in aid of Treloar Trust, based in Alton, which provides education, therapy, medical support and training in independence for young people with physical disabilities in a caring and supportive environment. The Trust gives students the opportunity to develop their confidence and skills to enable them to achieve their potential in all aspects of life.

The last in a series of six lunches where you can come and enjoy home-made soup, bread, cheese and other delights, whilst supporting charities at the same time!

This Lenten Lunch is in aid of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, a UK charity which trains and places dogs, which are trained to alert the deaf or hard of hearing to chosen everyday sounds, so offering greater independence, confidence and security at no cost to the recipients.

Saturday, 27th Music for Eastertide
You are warmly invited to a concert of seasonal music including Malcolm Williamson's Procession of Palms.

Alton Choral Society will be singing under the baton of Chris Gardner and accompanied by Stephen King on the organ. The programme will also include solos by accomplished local soprano Jane Mabbitt.

Admission is free. There will be a charitable retiring collection, the profits to be split equally between Children of Ecuador and the St Lawrence West End Project after deduction of minimal concert expenses.

To commemorate the 65th Anniversary of Victory in Europe Day and to raise funds for St. Andrew's Church and the service charity The 'Not Forgotten' Association.

Includes waitress-served light refreshments on a specially chartered Watercress Line train; hot supper at St Andrew's Church Hall; entertainment from Wendy & Patrick Busby; a 40's dance with Spinnin' Jim and Swingtime Susie and a cabaret featuring Memphis Belle and Micky the Fish.

Always a very popular event and part of Alton Deanery's fundraising efforts for Karamoja.

Saturday, 24th Spring Charity Concert: The Imperial Male Voice Choir and Ancora
We are thrilled to welcome the internationally acclaimed Imperial Male Voice Choir to Alton.

This distinguished choir regularly tours abroad and makes recordings under the baton of its well-known musical director, the professional singer and vocal coach Deborah Miles-Johnson.

Local female voice choir, Ancora, are delighted to be performing with them, together presenting an exciting and varied programme of music to celebrate spring.

Refreshments, wine and nibbles, will be on offer during the interval, complementing what promises to be a wonderful evening of musical entertainment.

The money raised from the concert will go directly to support the work of Home-Start Weywater, a local charity providing support for young families in Alton and the surrounding area.

Jubilee Church, Four Marks and Medstead, are hosting a Quiz Night to raise funds for the rebuilding of Medstead Village Hall.

We are hoping to have teams, between 6-8 people, representing as many of the organisations from Medstead and Four Marks and there will be a cash prize of £50 for the winning team!

Each person will be given a free raffle ticket on arrival and we will have more for sale during the evening with a number of sponsored prizes you could win!

There will also be an opportunity to sponsor a round of questions; our target is to have each round sponsored for around £200.

There will also be an interval during the evening when homemade desserts will be served.

All this for only £5 per person, to be paid before 7th May.

Come and help beat the bounds with a walk through Medstead's beautiful countryside, whilst holding a service at the same time!

The Rogation Walk will start at the Church, and at suitable points along the 5-6 mile off road route, we will pause for prayer and hymns, returning for tea and cakes in the Church Hall.

Walkers will need to be in strong boots and good voice!

Saturday, 5th Lasham Concert
A concert, preceded by cream teas in the churchyard, to raise money for the organ restoration fund, featuring Jane Gilbert, Allyson Hall, Josh Hall and Christina Ward, introduced by Jeffery Gilbert.

The programme will include solos and duets for flute, oboe, soprano and piano and will cater for most tastes and all ages, with music written at any time over the last 500 years!

Entrance free: please give a donation at the end. We look forward to seeing you!

This is the first in a series of events to raise funds to repair our very beautiful Nicholson pipe organ which dates back to 1841; it celebrates its 169th birthday this year. It has given remarkable service to many generations of parishioners and needs our help now - a complete overhaul is required so it can be kept in perfect working order for generations to come.

Medstead Scout Group are holding a murder mystery fund raising evening including a three course meal, catered by Marion Rogers, Anita Prior, Lesley Rae and the rest of the over 60's Christmas lunch team.

In between courses the mystery will unfold with lots of clues and red herrings. This is a new mystery for Inspector Ticket and you to solve, kindly written by David Rae.

This year’s Fête includes: Classic Cars, Vintage Tractor Display, School Performances and Stalls, Bouncy Castle, Tombola, Coconut Shy, Rug Making Demo, Bottle Stall, Silverware, Terrier Racing, Raffle, Pimms Stall, Tea, Coffee, Cakes and Ice Creams and much more!

Alton Choral Society invites you to join them for an evening of Water Music under the baton of their new conductor, Steven Moore.

The programme of music will include the light-hearted work Captain Noah and His Floating Zoo with words by Michael Flanders and music by Joseph Horovitz, as well as music on a theme of water by Handel, Mozart, Fauré, Vaughan Williams and Gilbert & Sullivan.

£5 per ticket, under 18s free. All proceeds will go to support WaterAid's life-changing water, sanitation and hygiene projects in Ghana and Malawi.

Organised by the North East Hants Agricultural Association to promote farming and the countryside, the show includes: cattle, sheep, angora goats, heavy horses, private driving, horse show, countryside arena, terrier racing, birds of prey, dog agility, fun dog show, craft, gift and food marquees, trade stands, refreshments, children's farm, petwise zoo, family entertainments and live music.

Arena events include the Bob Hogg's Sheepdog Display, Marching Bands, Light Cavalry, the Honourable Artillery Company and a demonstration of 19th Century horsemanship skills with sword, lance and ceremonial troop drills.

At the recital, as it is also Advent Sunday, the Posada journey will begin. During Posada the figures of Mary and Joseph from St. Andrew's Nativity display journey each night over Advent through Medstead, re-enacting their search for lodgings.

The idea is Mary and Joseph stay with a different family, or in a different place, every night, returning to our Church for the Crib Service on Christmas Eve.
